2eHub Anne Jackson I have been counselling and advocating for and with the twice-exceptional young person for many years. These are young people who are gifted as defined by Gagne’s model of talent development but who also carry an identified disability. Currently I am completing my Doctor of Cognitive Neurodiversity and have been fortunate enough to specialise in the student who carries giftedness and ADHD in the same body. To engage with these wonderfully complex young people I use a combination of Narrative Therapy and ACT as the gifted student is highly likely to bamboozle a counsellor who uses a more directive modality. Such young people may become engaged in a verbal debate over all the reasons that change cannot happen or that change requires others to do something but not them. The result is that many twice-exceptional students will fail to achieve their potential and or become involved in risky strategies to deal with their distress. My passion is to engage such young people on a journey whereby they can become the author of their life story. Being gifted yet disabled is an oxymoron that doesn’t have to be a disaster.

I have been working with people with ADHD since 2002. I am a qualified teacher with ADHD and have 2 children also diagnosed. My staff and I work one-on-one, as groups do not work well for ADHD. We use a multisensory approach and enhance the use of logic rather than memory. We remediate and test on national benchmarks to be sure of improvement. We assist children to gain mastery over their learning. The flow on is self confidence, social skills, building relationships, insight into their own ability. We create a safe environment for them to learn and a place where they are valued.  Neurofeedback: This has been shown to help ADHD and there is a lot of scientific evidence of its efficacy (See Efficacy of Neurofeedback Treatment in ADHD: the Effects on ... Arns, Martijn et al, Clinical EEG and Neuroscience; Jul 2009; 40, 3; ProQuest Central pg. 180). I have been doing Neurofeedback since 2007 and was further trained by Dr. Ed Hamlin in The States in 2014. The Time Out Centre Inc. has helped hundreds of children over the past twenty years gain a mastery of their ADHD and realise that this is an ability, not a disability! ...

ADHD & Chess   Our mission is to spread Chess practice for a therapeutic and educational purpose among people diagnosed with ADHD, as well as other groups with learning difficulties or special needs, such as Austism, Asperger syndrome and the elderly. We offer these groups different Chess based tools, specifically prepared to train and work directly stimulating certain cognitive abilities, such as concentration, memory, attention, spatial visualisation, abstract reasoning and making of decisions. The methodology developed also helps to generate healthy habits and adapts to the real abilities of the students. All this, contributing to encourage the interest in chess in society and reveal the values and benefits that chess represents. ADHD Australia ADHD Australia was established from a need to stand up for, and support, people impacted by ADHD in order to optimise positive outcomes for those individuals, their families and the community at large. ADHD Australia is a registered national, independent, non-profit organisation which is committed to removing barriers to well being for those living with ADHD. Among the key guiding principles of our founding directors was to be independent of all existing ADHD bodies, working closely with them to complement their existing efforts. We aim to create positive public awareness and improved understanding, through evidence-based information, which will reduce the stigma associated with ADHD. Our focus will be across the education and health related areas which will have the greatest positive impact. We will also partner with government and other like-minded organisations to fulfill our vision. Vision To make Australia a better place for people living with ADHD. Mission To create systemic positive change for people living with ADHD through discovery, translation and advocacy. Values  Collaboration With an estimated 1.2 million Australian living with ADHD, being collaborative is the only way we will succeed. The whole is greater than the sum of its parts and we need to...
