ADHD Australia ADHD Australia was established from a need to stand up for, and support, people impacted by ADHD in order to optimise positive outcomes for those individuals, their families and the community at large. ADHD Australia is a registered national, independent, non-profit organisation which is committed to removing barriers to well being for those living with ADHD. Among the key guiding principles of our founding directors was to be independent of all existing ADHD bodies, working closely with them to complement their existing efforts. We aim to create positive public awareness and improved understanding, through evidence-based information, which will reduce the stigma associated with ADHD. Our focus will be across the education and health related areas which will have the greatest positive impact. We will also partner with government and other like-minded organisations to fulfill our vision. Vision To make Australia a better place for people living with ADHD. Mission To create systemic positive change for people living with ADHD through discovery, translation and advocacy. Siblings Australia offer support for siblings of children and adults with chronic conditions. This includes disability, chronic illness and mental health issues. Siblings can often be overlooked, which can lead to feelings of isolation. If this continues, children can become vulnerable to a range of emotional and mental health problems. However, if siblings are acknowledged, and connected to sources of support, they are likely to become more resilient and family relationships are likely to be stronger. Siblings Australia aims to create connections between siblings, parents and siblings, and between families and professionals. Their focus is on strengthening families. They offer information and support services for siblings of people with chronic conditions, through increasing awareness, understanding and skills. The Director, Kate Strohm, has been asked to present workshops for parents and professionals all over Australia, in Italy (4 times), Scotland, England, US and Canada. The professional workshop can also include training in the Sibworks model for peer support for siblings aged 8-12 years. This blog provides some reflections of a workshop by a parent. Jane Horan - ADHD Coach based in Melbourne, Australia. Like a lot of women with ADHD I wasn't diagnosed until adulthood and in my case I was diagnosed in my early 40s after one of my children were diagnosed. I started to see many similarities in symptoms and every day challenges that we shared. My story of ADHD will be familiar to many adults who weren't diagnosed until later in life, particularly with my work and academic life. I Forever felt like a square peg trying to fit into a round hole. My diagnosis opened up a new way of life. I finally understood where my ADHD was holding me back and how to go about achieving my goals. I completed my ADHD Coach Training with the ADD Coach Academy, New York and I am currently in the process of obtaining my Associate Coach Certification with the International Coaching Federation. Prior to undertaking ADHD coach training, I worked as a Corporate Technology Trainer in the Legal Industry for 18 years. I work with teens and young adults to establish routines and strategies to support their goals and build self confidence. I can also support parents who are struggling to adapt...

What we do Supported travel and social events for young adults on the autism spectrum or with hidden disabilities. Many young people on the autism spectrum or with hidden disabilities struggle to fit in to the world. They find it hard to make friends, or to build independence apart from family. Some may spend a lot of energy trying to fit in, by masking and adapting to a society they feel like they don’t belong in. While some just need a bit of support, and watch others enjoying this world without being able to access it themselves. Being excluded or struggling to find your people can cause loneliness, anxiety and other challenges. Then add the complexity of travelling and planning travel. This is why we started Travengers AU – Supported Youth Travel. Everyone deserves the opportunity to socialise, travel and to be a valid part of a community, and to be accepted and appreciated. Through Travengers we enable building social networks and friendships, travel and build skills and confidence to move forward. And we aspire to educate others around us on our way.
