At Developmental Paediatrics, we have a team of professionals who are available for assessment and therapy for children and adolescents with developmental, learning, and behaviour concerns. Where there are concerns about ADHD, in most instances we believe an ideal assessment structure is a multi-disciplinary team assessment, so that specialists meet you together and discuss your child as a team before giving you feedback together. For under 6 year olds, we do this either as part of an Early Childhood Multidisciplinary Clinic. This involves an initial appointment with a Developmental Paediatrician and a Speech Pathologist or Psychologist, which will determine the direction of further assessment and therapy from our team of experts. This can include formal developmental or cognitive assessment tools, autism specific assessments, medical investigations, or assessments in speech pathology, occupational therapy, dietetics, and psychology. For children/adolescents age 6 or above, the Developmental Paediatrics School Age Multidisciplinary Assessment Day has been designed as a comprehensive, collaborative team assessment enabling busy families to have their child or adolescent seen by an expert team in one centre. Full Potential Psychology Luke Blackwood Luke is the founding Clinical Psychologist at Full Potential Psychology and the creator of Legend Land, the Minecraft therapy world. Luke has the mission of making therapy fun, removing the barriers to people accessing treatment and destigmatising mental health and the expression of emotions. Luke takes a creative, engaging approach to therapy and has worked in a number of different areas including private practice, non-government organisations, youth detention centres, acute inpatient units, and schools. Luke works effectively with a variety of conditions and specialises in autism spectrum conditions, conduct disorder, ADHD, trauma, depression, anxiety, adjustment, and mood disorders. Luke sees the importance of working with the system around the child and works with families, schools, and the broader network to help the child reach their full potential. Luke spends his time as Creative Director adapting the evidence-based interventions he uses when face to face with a client into fun, interactive minigames that bring the sessions to life in game. When Luke is not designing games, flying Pigzy around Legend Land, or being photobombed by his Minecraft character, you find him rock climbing, stretching on a yoga mat or at the beach.
Psychological & Educational Consultancy Services Dr Shane Langsford Psychological & Educational Consultancy Services (PECS) was established by Dr Shane Langsford in Subiaco in 1999 and has grown from being a single practitioner practice to now comprising seven staff who, under Dr Langsford’s continued guidance, conduct child and adult assessments for ADHD, Specific Learning Disorder (SLD: aka Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, Dyscalculia), and Intellectual Developmental Disorder (IDD). Dr Langsford’s qualifications include a PhD in Educational Psychology, a Bachelor of Education with First Class Honours (BEdHons1), and a Bachelor of Psychology. Completed within the BEdHons1 was a Postgraduate Diploma of Education majoring in School Psychology. Dr Langsford is fully registered with the Psychology Board of Australia (PBA) and the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA); and is a Full Member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS), Australian Association of Psychologists (AAPi), Australian ADHD Professionals Association (AADPA), ADHD Australia, and School Psychologist’s Association of Western Australia (SPAWA).
